I love music festivals! I found the Joshua Tree Music Festival online a few months before I left Philadelphia and figured I check out a west coast music festival. It was better than I could have imagined.

I showed up a few days before the festival began to help set up and put in my volunteer hours for my free ticket. I pulled up and saw 8 guys building the festival. There were a few dogs running around the festival grounds. Travis, the man in charge said it was o.k. to let Silvi out and see if she'd be cool with the other dogs. Oh, Silvi my dear dog! She was cool with the pitbull but after about an hour she scrapped with the collie mix. It looked worse than it was and no dog was hurt. But needless to say, she was banished to the car for the rest of the day.

The Joshua Tree Music Festival had a great mix of folk, rock, and bluegrass bands. It was a small festival, less than 1,000 people. It had the same feel and spirit of the bigger East coast folk festivals that I attend and love dearly. I'm so far from home and it was great to meet people that know and love music.

I met a an awesome group of people who were also volunteering. They were all camping right next to me! A big thanks to Jeff, Tenley, Mike, Jared, Matt, and Andy for welcoming me into there group.
